We can all feel it. From “Outdoors in October” to our reluctance to leave a warm bed in the morning, winter is coming.
If there are others out there like myself, this also means taking extra effort to will myself to do things that otherwise I’d have little complaint doing.
An exercise routine that otherwise leaves you feeling energized and uplifted instead has become grueling and numbing, finding yourself to be glad when its over and doing it only because you know the benefits it would have on your physical health.
Likewise a morning devotional may be harder to enjoy because of the cold, an outside devotional as the sun is freshly up is no longer possible because of numb fingers.
Changes have to be made as the season changes. But I continue to pray for the youth group as the weather turns colder that they remain on fire in their pursuit of the Lord.
Take time to consider the things that we may be delaying to warmer parts of the day or withdrawing from completely as the temperature drops. Instead of taking a negative approach try to find some positives.
As far as exercise goes you might find as much enjoyment in a sunset run as you did with a morning jog.
But more importantly with your spiritual health you might find that a warm blanket and a hot cup of coco might draw us even closer to our Abba Father.
In this time that would otherwise make our bodies feel lethargic and unwilling to continue to do our regular routines let alone start new ones. Do consider your spiritual health and continue to turn to the Lord and grow your relationship in Him.
While doing this also marvel at the world he has made and how uniquely perfect this entire planet with its seasons is for us to life for Him.
